QC Technician

Quality Control Technician

Duties & Expectations

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for providing inspection, testing services, and documentation for asphalt plant and crushing facilities. The role includes developing and maintaining relationships with key customers, facility managers, DOT personnel, as well as State, County, and Municipal personnel. Additionally, the technician is responsible for evaluating volumetric data necessary for adjustments to asphalt mix production to ensure compliance with all applications and projects.

General Expectations

  • Use accepted methods to inspect, sample, and test aggregates, asphalt, or other materials for quality control purposes.
  • Sample and test mixtures to ensure compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerances.
  • Monitor and test process functions and materials daily to ensure products meet or exceed agency or customer requirements.
  • Prepare and record accurate information; maintain the test results database.
  • Obtain required certifications (paid for by the Company) in a timely manner.
  • Maintain all laboratory equipment, keeping track of certification paperwork on lab scales and other equipment requiring annual re-certification.
  • Follow quality control plans and guidelines as assigned.
  • Follow managerial directions regarding daily tasks and expectations.
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with safety policies and procedures using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety

  • Assist with adherence to the SDI Safety Plan.
  • Help train and instruct employees on work hazards and safe work practices.
  • Maintain housekeeping and conduct regular inspections of work areas for unsafe conditions and acts.
  • Set an example by wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforcing its use.
  • Assist in the immediate reporting of all incidents and/or injuries.
  • Submit an Accident/Injury Report to a Safety Officer for all incidents.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
