S.D.
Ireland Concrete Construction Corporation was founded in 1974 by
Stuart D. Ireland at its present location of 100 Grove Street in
Burlington, Vermont. Stu purchased the plant from the former owner
who had retired his concrete business several years earlier. He
saw the plant from above while on a flight into Burlington. He started
his business with a fleet of two mixers, two dump trucks and a few
pick-ups. He had been making concrete in a portable plant for his
own residential building business wanted to sell to others.
Today, S.D. Ireland
Concrete Construction Corporation is one of the largest construction
companys in the state. His sons, Scott and Stephen Ireland, worked
alongside Stu after school every day, on weekends and summers right
from the start. Stephen went on to recieve a degree in engineering
and started managing field crews directly following college.Scott
graduated from
Bryant College with a degree in Business Management and while he
had been involved with decision making for the company on weekends
and summers during college, he starting managing the business full
time after graduating.
Scott Ireland began
with an aggressive five year plan to build a new state of the art
computerized batching facility. With goals set to grow the business
by increasing both their fleet and the services offered by the Irelands
to include commercial forming, the plan was successful and executed
in less than the five years planned for the expansion.
S.D.
Ireland Concrete Construction Corporation continues to grow and
expand their services to serve their communities building needs.
Since Scott began managing the business, commercial and residental
divisions of concrete forming and placement have grown. A new excavating
division has been addedand pre-fabricated concretestructures are
now being made on site. Scott has forseen changes in the marketplace
and responded with new and innovative ideas which have kept the
Ireland's at the forefront of building in Chittenden County and
surrounding areas.
